Quick link to consider if you use Special Collections in Virginia.
I have stuff scattered all over the country for my web-project. I was thinking about what Dave wrote (concerns about being out on the web even though this might not be my best work) and I agree that this is a concern. I think that the reality is that so few people take digital scholarship seriously that I am not sure it will hurt us in the academic market...also I am telling people it is a class and I am starting at as a novice learner. If I really am embarrassed I will take it down and people can look at the 404.

It was scary to see Regent University on the list of universities participating in the special collections archive. I wonder if they will digitize the governor's Master thesis.
